SENIOR ACTIVITIES
The YJCC’s Senior Program provides opportunities to get involved, expand creative energies, exercise the mind and body and achieve a sense of belonging to a very special community of people.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, senior members may choose from a variety of organized activities and classes. These include aquacise, sensational senior aerobics, current events discussions, history and more. Special musical performances, holiday celebrations, trips and lectures add to this stimulating and lively program. Limited transportation to and from the YJCC is also available.
The YJCC’s senior lunch program serves nutritious, hot, kosher lunches twice a week to our senior members at a nominal cost of $3.00 per person (price subject to change). The meal is not only tasty, but provides a great opportunity to socialize. Meals are subsidized through the UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey and the U.S.D.A.
Being a part of this warm, supportive community brings companionship and extended self-worth to our members.
Senior members of the YJCC have 2 flexible and affordable options for membership. The Silver Senior membership gives individuals 63 and older the opportunity to use the YJCC facility on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45 am to 4:45 pm. Golden Senior memberships enable individuals 63 and older, and their spouses, to use the facility each day, Mondays – Thursdays from 6 am – 10 pm; Fridays from 6 am – closing, and Sundays 11 am – 5 pm. Both memberships give seniors admission to take part in the senior program for no additional charge.
All members of the Senior Adult Program receive a special bi-monthly newsletter with details of upcoming classes, special events, day and overnight trips and Senior Department activities.
Throughout the year, the YJCC’s Senior Program plans trips to a variety of interesting and exciting destinations. Traveling with the program ensures that your days are packed with interest, excitement, and companionship. Day trip destinations regularly include trips to Atlantic City and various sites in New York City, and recent overnight trips have included Washington, DC, Boston, and Providence.
Note that all classes, programs and trips are subject to change and/or cancellation based on instructor availability. Program cancellations and/or postponements are at the discretion of the Senior Adult Director.
Limited Transportation is available from selected Bergen County communities through a grant from the UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey. Contact Devra Kanter, Senior Adult Director, at 666-6610, ext. 263 for more information and availability in your community.
