     HISTORY

The YM-YWHA of Bergen County Shirley & Milton Gralla Center Opened in Washington Township in 1987The YJCC was established on its current site in the Pascack Valley in 1987.

When the doors opened in September of that year at 605 Pascack Road in the Township of Washington, it marked the fulfillment of a dream by a core group of local supporters, determined to revive the legacy and spirit of the agency's forerunner, the YM-YWHA in Hackensack.

Founded in 1917, the non-profit, voluntary organization helped a generation of Jewish immigrants assimilate into American society and promoted fellowship and community spirit through its array of educational, recreational, social and cultural programming for individuals and families.

Today, the YJCC touches the lives of thousands of members and more through its communal service initiatives.
